DejaVuComing soon for Mac

Your Mac remembers everything.Nothing leaves your Mac.

Find anything you’ve seen on your screen — a tracking number, a recipe, an error message — just by typing a word. Private by design, and built natively for Mac.

We’ll email you a link to confirm, then once when the beta opens and once at launch. No spam; unsubscribe in one click. How we handle your email

  • Everything stays on your Mac
  • No account, no cloud
  • Never audio, never keystrokes
  • Available worldwide

Find it again

You saw it. Now you can find it.

Your Mac keeps a light, private trace of what was on screen and reads its text on the spot. Type a word, or scroll back in time.

The tracking number

From an email you can’t find anymore, or a site you closed.

The recipe

The one you scrolled past on Sunday, in a tab long gone.

The promo code

Seen in a newsletter or a banner, just before it disappeared.

The text you lost

A paragraph you deleted by mistake, or a form that reset.

The hotel from last week

Its name, its price and the dates you looked at.

“What did I click?”

Retrace an install, a settings change or a purchase, step by step.

How it works

Quiet when you work. There when you need it.

  1. You turn it on

Nothing happens until you say so. The menu bar always shows whether memory is on, and pausing takes one click.

  2. It remembers, lightly

A frame is kept only when your screen changes, compressed with Apple’s hardware video encoder. It pauses when your Mac sleeps, locks or runs hot.

  3. You find it in seconds

Press a shortcut, type a word, and land on the exact moment — with the word highlighted. Touch ID first, every time.

Privacy

A memory, not surveillance.

We built DejaVu the way we’d want it for our own families: private by default, and honest about what it does.

  • Stays on your Mac

No account, no cloud, no server. Your memory never leaves this Mac.

  • Encrypted, behind Touch ID

The key lives in your Mac’s secure chip, and looking back requires Touch ID.

  • Never your passwords

Password fields and password managers are never kept. Private windows and banking are excluded by default.

  • No audio, no keystrokes

DejaVu never uses the microphone and never logs what you type.

  • Pause, or forget

Pause in one click. Erase the last five minutes — or everything — just as fast.

  • Nothing about you is sent

The DejaVu app sends no analytics and no usage data. Nothing about you leaves your Mac.

A public security white paper will be published at launch.

Coming from Rewind?

We know. It was a great tool.

Rewind stopped recording on December 19, 2025 — two weeks earlier in Europe and the UK — and its memories couldn’t be exported. DejaVu is built so that can’t happen to you: your data is yours, with an open export, and the app keeps working without us. There are no servers to shut down.

FAQ

Questions, answered.

Isn’t this spyware?

Spyware watches you for someone else. DejaVu works only for you: you turn it on, everything stays on your Mac, there’s no account and no server, and the menu bar always shows whether it’s on. It never keeps audio, keystrokes or passwords.

What about my battery and fans?

A frame is kept only when your screen changes, video is compressed by Apple’s hardware encoder, and memory pauses when your Mac sleeps or runs hot. We’ll publish battery measurements from a MacBook Air before launch.

How much disk space does it use?

A few gigabytes a month in typical use. You choose a limit; past it, the oldest memories are removed first. Pro can archive them to an external drive.

Which Macs are supported?

Macs with Apple silicon and a recent version of macOS. The exact requirements will be announced with the beta.

Will it be on the Mac App Store?

Yes, alongside a direct version. Apple’s rules limit how apps read text from other windows, so the direct version is a little more precise.

Can I use it on a work Mac?

DejaVu is a personal tool. Check with your employer first, and exclude any app you shouldn’t keep a memory of.

When can I try it?

The private beta opens first to people on the waitlist. We’ll email you once when it’s ready — that’s it.
